We’ve known each other since elementary school, but in high school we didn’t really run with the same crowd. Every now and then, Gavin tried to take me out, but if you ask him, I completely ghosted him. After high school, while I was in college, I accidentally liked one of his pictures from over a year earlier. I didn’t think he’d notice — but of course he did. Instead of ignoring it, he messaged me something along the lines of, “Interesting,” clearly calling me out. I replied awkwardly and tried to play it off. Not long after that, the University of Utah played Oregon. I was at the game, sitting in the student section, and he was there too, surrounded by his friends and very obviously cheering for Oregon. Utah ended up losing pretty badly, and he posted about it on his Instagram story. On a whim, I decided to slide up. That one message turned into us texting every day. And from there, the rest is history.
