Matthew and Katlyn first met working as summer camp counselors at the Florida State University Summer Music Camps, the greatest place to be. They were both the youngest counselors on staff. Katlyn reached out to Matthew to get to know him a bit better hoping to make a new friend and they have talked every day since then. Their friendship grew and it quickly became clear that there was something more between the two. They went on their first date on July 8th, 2017. Matthew planned the perfect first date and took Katlyn to Harry's Seafood Bar and Grille which serves New Orleans style cuisine (something that is special to Katlyn) and plays jazz music (something special to Matthew). The rest is history!

While on a trip visiting Katlyn's grandma, Matthew took Katlyn on a beautiful hike at Dukes Creek Falls near Helen, GA. At the end of the hike, there is a beautiful waterfall. While looking at the waterfall from the overlook, Matthew got down on one knee and proposed.
