Don't go here if you're in a hurry (haha, the hipster service is real), but this French style cafe offers a variety of plates that are hard to come by. brunch • lunch • dinner (thursdays are burger night.)
Dove's Luncheonette
Comfort food at its core, Dove's serves up Tex-Mex style dishes with interesting twists. If you like seafood/ceviche- get the Back to Life cocktail! brunch • dinner (sundays are sometimes special menus)
Lula Cafe
Seasonally rotating menus with great texture/flavor combinations. This place is classic for a reason. Our go-to neighborhood spot. breakfast • lunch • dinner (mondays are a special farm dinner. they have a vegetarian tasting menu every night).
Rootstock Wine & Beer Bar
An extensive wine list, cozy chairs, and an amazing selection of cheeses and charcuterie. This is a favorite date spot of ours. brunch (sundays only) • dinner
Red & White Wines
This used to be one our favorite bottle shops in the city, and then they expanded into a cute little cafe with glass pours and tasty bites. lunch • dinner
Estereo
Sun drenched, cocktail bar with great vibes and tasty cocktails. It gets a little bumpin' late night, but day time Estereo hangs are top notch. coffee • cocktails
The Beer Temple
Are you at all interested in beer? Then come here! We happen to live across the street, but this would be in our favorite spots even without proximity. Friendly bartenders (beertenders?) with a constantly rotating selection of small kegs filled with delicious brew. beer • cheese plates + you can byo food!
Garfield Park Conservatory
Do you need a dose of sunshine during a dreary Chicago winter? Absolutely, resoundingly yes. This is our favorite way to "travel" without going far. Come here! suggested donation $10
Museum Of Contemporary Art Chicago
We are members to this contemporary art museum located in the heart of the city. We love the frequently rotating exhibits and the special collections on the 3rd floor. Try the delicious new restaurant Marisol, housed inside the MCA. PS. It's right next to Gary's bar - go have a drink at DrumBar to appreciate rooftop views.
