It’s official!

My story of meeting the man I love! Our lockers at Mater Dei High School were three doors away from each other and we took psychology class together. While we rode the Borough Bus every day from Highlands through Atlantic Highlands to and from Mater Dei, we never dated. Then, I co-chaired our 30-year reunion. We connected briefly with his RSVP from Arizona that he could not come. Neither of us really remember that. Yet, on September 6, 2013, I was on a girls' weekend touring vineyards in Charlottesville, VA, sitting in the Trump Winery, and posted on Facebook: "And as we raised our glasses of Trump's best Viognier, I heard my friends say "Kathy, did you put Squeeze on your Ipod? Job well done Julie McCoy." ". Gary replied with a post: "Squeeze??. Wow, blast from the past. In case you missed it, the Red Sox are enjoying their stay in NYC. Go Sox!". It caught my eye. I think it was the Sox mention. We corresponded by email for a while, then I called him and asked if we could talk by phone from now on. By November, he was planning a trip back home for his brother's retirement party and he asked me if I would "be in the area". I met him and we both swore it was not a date when we went to New York City for the day. We spent the entire day walking through the city. Gary tells me that the exact spot he knew there was something to "us" was crossing over to see St. Patrick's Cathedral. I turned around, smiled, and held his hand as we crossed. That evening, we decided we would start dating. The rest is history. And on July 5th, much similar to our first "not really a date" in New York, we walked... from the Charles River Esplanade, to Kenmore Square, up Newberry Street, and through the Boston Public Gardens . . . over to a bench, where he proposed! I said "YES!".
