On February 28th, 2021, Joshua asked me if we could talk in the Cornerstone parking lot before youth. Little did I know how much my life would change! He told me he liked me and wanted to pursue me. I was SHOCKED. How could a guy like Joshua like a girl like me? I frantically called my sister and told my best friends. But the story started long before then. I always knew Joshua as the worship guy. One night at youth, he was leading worship. My friends pointed out he was wearing Chacos and thought it was funny. I remember thinking, well, I think he's really cute… I want to marry that guy one day. But I never said a word to anyone… because there was NO way we would end up together. A few years passed, and my oldest sister, Anna, asked Timothy Ellis to go to prom. Timothy happened to be Joshua's best friend! So, as Anna and Timothy started dating and eventually married, I started seeing Joshua around more. At the wedding, we started noticing each other! There is a picture where Joshua and I were trying to stand by each other. Little did I know, I was standing next to my future husband! God is so good! Over the next few months, we started running into each other in different ways. We started hanging out, and then on April 4th, 2021, Joshua asked me to be his girlfriend! Two and a half years later, on October 7th, 2023, Joshua asked me to marry him! We went on a walk to Memorial Luthern, where he played a song he wrote and went down on one knee! Throughout our three years of dating, Joshua and I have grown closer to each other but more importantly closer to God. As we step into marriage, our prayer is that we can exemplify Christ by loving each other the way Christ loved the Church. I have asked one thing from the Lord; it is what I desire: to dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, gazing on the beauty of the Lord and seeking him in his temple. -Psalm 27:4
