It all started at Freshman Orientation at Clemson University. The first time I stepped into an auditorium with 350 new Clemson students I couldn't take my eyes off of her. Sara was sitting with her parents a few rows back and I told my mom I was going to make a point to get her number. Well it didn't take long to fulfill my promise, but I can also promise you Sara still needs help with her bowling game. We got to know one another a little better and we saw each other a few times during our first semester at Clemson. It wasn't until junior year that fate brought us together. While attending a Clemson football game in September with our friends, we were sitting a few rows apart and spotted one another. I didn't get a chance to talk to her before she left at halftime, but I knew I needed to reach out. I didn't waste anytime getting her to agree to a date with me the very next day. And she has been mine since then. I don't know what my life would be like had I not seen her again and I can't wait to see her again and again. I can't wait for her to be my WIFE! -G
It all started with a seemingly normal trip to Hilton Head Island on Memorial Day Weekend to see Garrett's cousin graduate from high school. The whole weekend was a blast celebrating her and watching such a big milestone in her life. Little did I know this weekend would be one of the most important dates and biggest milestones in my life. Sunday started like any other day when visiting Garrett's family. Laura (my future mother-in-law) cooked us a wonderful brunch before getting ready for our date. At this point, I wondered if something was up. A little later, my stomach started hurting and I did not know if I would be able to go on our date. I told Garrett (hoping he would say something) and he was as cool as a cucumber saying that we could just skip out if I wasn't feeling well. Needless to say, we got ready for our date and left. On the way to Palmetto Bluff, my sister decided to seal the deal of no engagement by saying she was stuck babysitting. Just as normal, we got out of the truck and started to walk around taking in the beauty of the May River and the Lowcountry. We ended up in the most beautiful little chapel that I have loved since we first started dating. My heart started fluttering as we walked towards the cross and had time to talk about our lives together. After a sweet chat, he asked me if I was ready to go to dinner and I said yes thinking that that is all that was planned. However, we walked outside the chapel and stopped on the stairs. Garrett started talking and all I could think of was how lucky I was to have such a sweet guy. Next thing I know, he kneels down and pulls out a little box from his sock! He proceeds to ask me to spend forever with him and of course I nodded my head because I was at a loss for words. He placed the ring on my finger, and lots of happy tears were shed while we hugged and enjoyed our moment. Little did I know, Garrett planned a full reception of family and friends, which was icing on top of the most perfect date! -Sara
