LET'S GET GROOVY

In August of 2019, Rachel was living in East Lansing, going to school at MSU. She saw Garrett as she was swiping through Tinder, recognizing his face from a camp they had both attended in high school. She thought he was cute as heck back then and was excited to see a semi familiar face. They had mutual friends so she felt confident he wasn’t going to murder her. They ate tacos at Punk Taco while he shared stories of his recent hiking adventures and Rachel was way too nervous to even speak. They then sat on the tailgate of Garrett's truck and enjoyed ice cream from Tasty Twist, Garrett kept getting so much ice cream stuck in his mustache and it was dripping down the front of him and making an absolute mess, they just laughed and laughed together. From there, they continued to go on dates and get to know each other. Garrett had been living at his parents house in Potterville but was in the process of moving back to Holland after landing a job at Gentex. They weren’t sure if they would keep trying to date with the increased distance between them. For some reason they both just couldn’t stay away and decided to keep making time to see one another. During the spring semester of 2020, all Rachel's classes were switched to 100% online due to the covid pandemic. She asked Garrett if he didn’t mind if her and her 2 cats moved in with him for a short while. Well, they’ve been roommates ever since. They bought their first home in Allegan in June 2021. They've adopted 3 more cats and a dog that love to provide lots of chaos and entertainment. They have gone on numerous trips together, visiting all over Michigan, exploring Montana, South Dakota, Vermont, Maine, Florida, Tennessee, Wisconsin and Jamaica. Rachel went into work on Saturday, January 20th. When she arrived home, there was somewhat of a scavenger hunt laid out for her. Taking her through their home, with candles lit in the living room, a playlist with their special songs playing over the speakers, little notes that went over memories that they’ve shared. The last clue took her to their bedroom, her boots and winter hat laid out on the bed, with instructions to meet Garrett in the woods behind their house. There he stood waiting, calm as ever, and got down on one knee and ask her to marry him.
