The Heart of La Paz is its vibrant beachside boardwalk. The malecón provides an array of diversions and entertainment. If you have additional time in La Paz consider booking a guided boat to visit the local ocean life. February will be peak for humpback whale calving season, whale sharks will also be in the region. In our visits to La Paz we've shared happy memories of visiting sea life we have swum with sea lions, whale sharks, snorkeled with fish, and seen whales, dolphins, manta rays etc. Tours are usually a day or half day excursion. There are many available options on the malecon; we have had good experiences with Choya Tours, Baja Offshore, and we would be happy to assist you.
A Famous beach with a long shallow bay and calm clear water. There are many beaches in the area but this is the most iconic so arriving early is recommended. There is also a lovely hike that over looks the beach.
Located on the Malecon near the Baja Club hotel Harker is a rooftop bar specializing in local craft beer and also runs a tours and rentals company where excursions can be booked and leisure equipment rented. Paddle boards can be rented by the hour to enjoy the serene Sea of Cortez.
Located on the malecón la Fuente is Josephine's, Maria's mother, favorite local ice cream shop.
La Paz is famous for its sea food, and also its flour tortillas which are renowned throughout Mexico. Any time some one is traveling to visit from La Paz we make sure they bring at least a kilo of fresh tortillas.
This small microbrewery located a few blocks from the main city square with the cathedral and Museo De Arte BCS. Pacific Brew is rapidly becoming a favorite of ours because of their quality beer and friendly staff and owners.
Doce Cuarenta is one of our favorite cafes for breakfast and baked goods. Located within walking distance of the hotel and cathedral and surrounded by other bars and restaurants, is a great choice anytime of day.
A hike on the edge of town for a short but semi rigorous hike one can enjoy stunning views of the city of La Paz and the Bay of Cortez

This is the closest beach to the city, just at the end of El Malecon boardwalk, and across the hiking spot of El Cerro de la Calavera. Is the first beach of the scenic highway of La Paz, so you will find a lot of local families enjoying it. Ideal for children and families, you can swim, snorkel, or just enjoy the view of the Bay of La Paz. Bathrooms are available. | Esta es la primera playa de la carretera escénica de La Paz, por lo cual se ubica cerca de la ciudad y es una favorita de los locales. Cuenta con palapas y baños. Ideal para familias y niños, puedes nadar, practicar snorkel o simplemente disfrutar de la vista a la Bahía de La Paz. También se encuentra casi al frente del Cerro de la Calavera, un hiking spot excelente.
