We're getting married!

I kept seeing Garrett at my gym when I lived in Michigan. At the time, I was a full-time student, working two jobs and didn't have a consistent time that I went to the gym. I would go at 2 pm, 10 pm, 7 am, whenever I could make it work. Despite that, I kept seeing him at all these random times and thinking "What a coincidence that we keep going to the gym at the same random times! It's a sign!" But Garrett looked pretty intense during his workouts and did not seem very interested in a conversation so I chickened out on talking to him. I asked my friend to go ask him for his number while my other friend and I waited in the car for the report. 20 minutes later, my friend walked out with the low down on Garrett. He said "I got his number but I think he's moving to Florida soon and I also think he's kinda old." I wasn't really sure what to do with that information so I texted him anyways and the rest is history.

I (Danielle) had just flown back home from visiting family in Texas. I had dinner plans with my friend, Kate. I was exhausted and almost cancelled the plans but Kate convinced me not to. She told me she wanted to dress up fancy and she would pick me up and surprise me with a new fancy restaurant. We got to dinner and she kept texting someone during the meal (which is unusual for Kate). She said that her childhood friend was in labor and she was getting updates (found out later that was a white lie 😉). The restaurant was on the beach so she asked me if I wanted to go for a sunset walk on the beach after dinner. Of course, I said yes!! We started walking and having a great conversation. Randomly, she pulled out her phone to take a video of the sunset and she gestured for me to look to my right. I couldn’t see anything right away, but then, in the distance, I saw Garrett standing by a beautiful set up tucked behind some sea grass. I saw the words “Will you marry me?” lit up. I was in utter shock! I had absolutely no idea. Garrett planned everything from the dinner with Kate to the sunset walk. It was so so special! A moment I’ll never forget ❤️
