In some ways, you might say ours is a love before first sight. "There was one particular picture on Cal's profile that made me feel genuine happiness and I couldn't help but "super-like" it. I told her on our first date that it's one thing to look beautiful in a photo, but that I couldn't remember a picture ever giving me that feeling before. That's how I knew this was special and why I wanted to make sure she knew how I felt."
Cal couldn't believe it when, after a first date spent sharing childhood memories and bonding over the poetry of Edgar Allen Poe, she opened her door to a flower delivery that included a quote from her favorite Maya Angelou poem. The next time we saw each other was less than a week later at Warwick Winery. "I can remember our second date like it was yesterday - the brisk March air, the smoky scent of the fire pit, and the live band. I recall the band playing the song 'Humble and Kind' from Tim McGraw and myself telling Garrett that the song reminded me of him. I was struck by how intentional, sincere, funny, and sweet Garrett was right from the beginning."
We made things official as a friends wedding came up, and Cal wanted to know how we should introduce ourselves. Garrett quickly said, "We'll say that you're my girl and I'm your guy." Soon enough we were meeting each others families and spending holidays, birthdays, and vacations together. Cal joined Jets nation, J-E-T-S JETS JETS JETS, and Garrett rediscovered the joy of a good Yankees game. Together, we travelled across the Atlantic to the Emerald Isle as Garrett tapped into his Irish roots. Fast forward to 13 months to the day after our initial meeting, Garrett popped the big question at Warwick Winery.
And so, a first impression and a super-like turns into a super love, and we continue to write our beautiful story. Every layer we peel back, like Cal taking Garrett on a tour of her magical homeland and childhood haunts in Santo Domingo, brings us deeper into this love, which feels oh so true.
