We first met the way all great love stories begin: on a blind date for a sorority function in the fall of 2012. We hit it off immediately, which, of course, meant that life instantly intervened. Just a few months later, Garrett moved to Washington, D.C., and Ashley continued her journey at UC Davis before eventually moving to San Francisco. For the next several years, we were busy proving that distance really does make the heart forget—temporarily. We thrived in our respective cities, launching careers, exploring new neighborhoods and forging lifelong friendships. Then, the universe decided we'd had enough fun apart. In 2021, Garrett (and his much more persuasive wingman, Trout!) finally realized the West Coast was the best Coast and made the move back to San Francisco. In the fall of 2022, fate stepped back in. We both ended up at a mutual Davis friend’s birthday party, and over the next several months, we kept bumping into each other. It started to feel like more than just a coincidence which lead Ashley to drop few *not-so-subtle* hints, and finally, in January 2023, we went on our first official date. From that moment on, everything quickly (finally!) fell into place. We adventured around San Francisco, traveled the world, moved into our dream apartment in the Marina, and Trout officially got a second parent to buy him expensive treats. Now, after a decade of crossed paths, long distances, and one persistent invisible string, we couldn’t be more excited to celebrate with you as we finally tie the knot.
