Alyssa's former pre-school director, Stephanie Beyea, used to be Garrett's old High School science teacher from Trinity Christian School.  Stephanie saw that Garrett was back in town from college/military and began to scheme.  Stephanie texted one of Garrett's friends and found out that he was single.  She then began to ask Alyssa random questions at work such as what kind of men Alyssa likes.  After months of planning/preparing Alyssa for a blind date, Stephanie texted Garrett out of the blue and asked if he would be interested in a blind date with one of her pre-school teachers.  Garrett agreed and so did Alyssa (reluctantly).  Garrett and Alyssa met in November 2020 at Rosa's Pizza in Prescott, AZ.  They met for lunch and by the time their first date was finishing the dinner crowd was starting to come in.  Garrett and Alyssa really hit it off as Stephanie had planned and the rest is history!

Garrett had told Alyssa that he was out of town the weekend of September 11th for Army National Guard business in Phoenix. Unknown to Alyssa, he had actually rented out the top floor ballroom of the Elks Theater in Prescott, AZ and got Alyssa's best friend, Lexi, in on the engagement. Lexi then set plans with Alyssa to hangout downtown Prescott on September 11th and walk around to various shops. As the girls were shopping, Garrett and Lexi's husband, John, were setting up the Elks Theater with signs that say "Will You Marry Me." Once Garrett was ready he sent Lexi a text and the girls were on their way. Lexi had told Alyssa that she had heard of a pop-up shop inside the Elks and she wanted to check it out. As the girls were on the way, unknown to Garrett, the door the girls were supposed to use got closed and locked; they had no way of getting to the ballroom. When the girls arrived they could not get inside the Elks Theater. Lexi tried to break in but was unsuccessful. Eventually Garrett and John realized what happend, so Garrett sent John down to open the door. As soon as Alyssa saw John she suspected something was up, but she was convinced Garrett was in Phoenix for drill with the National Guard. John tried to play it off as if he had a surprise for his wife, Lexi, but Alyssa was not buying it. As Alyssa came into the ballroom she saw the signs and immediately was filled with joy. Garrett asked her to marry him and she said yes! Alyssa and Garrett then took pictures in downtown Prescott. They then went to Rosa's Pizza where they had their first date almost 2 years before. Garrett had also prior coordinated with family and close friends to be at Rosa's to surprise Alyssa on their engagement day!
