For our international guests, we understand that this is an intercontinental trip and requires advanced planning. We would be honored and grateful if you decide to make the trip to Malaysia to celebrate this milestone with us! When you are booking your flight to Malaysia, some our favorite airlines that we would recommend are Singapore Airlines, Japan Airlines and Qatar Airways. Booking method is completely up to each guest. We can coordinate with anyone flying out of Austin, so that all guests will be on the same flight. Although the celebrations are taking place in Kuala Lumpur, we encourage everyone to explore and travel out of the city to Melacca, Penang or Tioman Island with us! If you have an extended trip planned, Air Asia is the airline to fly with while in Southeast Asia, we would highly recommend booking a mini trip to explore the neighboring SEA countries like Indonesia, Thailand or Singapore. These destinations are all short flights of 1-2 hours away. Please let us know if there is anything we can do to assist you with when planning your trip to Malaysia. Malaysia Digital Arrival Card (MDAC)

Effective January 1st 2024, all foreign visitors to Malaysia must apply for a "Malaysia Digital Arrival Card or MDAC" within 3 days before arriving to Malaysia. Please follow the link below and the steps on the website to apply. If you do not apply online, there is also a kiosk upon arrival where you can apply, but I would strongly advise to apply ahead to avoid any unplanned issues on arrival.

Accommodation

For accommodations, we have secured block room rates at the Sheraton Imperial Hotel Kuala Lumpur, but we also encourage you to check out other options that may suit your needs and travel plans. There are several Airbnb’s that are located within beautiful skyscrapers in Kuala Lumpur. For example, The Face Suites has a beautiful rooftop infinity pool with a view of the city. We recommend staying at the Sheraton Imperial Hotel the night before the wedding through the day after (9/5-9/7), as we will also be staying there on those days.

Sheraton Imperial Kuala Lumpur Hotel

This hotel is where all the events will be taking place. It’s located right in the city center and has beautiful, luxurious rooms at a discounted rate for all our guests. If you decide to book your stay at this hotel, please reach out to our hotel coordinator, her info is listed below. Just mention that you are guests at our wedding to receive the discounted rate along with booking information. Room rates are around $100/night for short stays and is lower for longer stays. The hotel coordinator will give you a link on May 5th 2025 to make your room reservation, it will show the final rate depending on the length of your stay. The Face Suites

This is one of many Airbnb listings at The Face Suites. This high rise condo is home to several vacation rentals and has a beautiful infinity pool deck that is famous for its views of the city. It is also a quick 7 minute commute to the Sheraton Imperial Hotel, where the festivities will be taking place. Getting Around Town

If you want to explore the city, I would recommend downloading the Grab App. It's their version of Uber/Lyft. You can also take the monorail or the LRT which is KL's version of a subway. If you need any additional help with transport, please feel free to contact Garrett or Ashleigh.

Paya Beach Spa & Dive Resort

This is the hotel of the optional excursion for our family and friends that would like to spend some extra time together with us before the actual day of events. The dates for this group trip is Aug 29th 2025-Sept 1st 2025 Tioman Island is a 4 hour drive from KL, and a 2 hour ferry to the island. Please take that into consideration when making your RSVP. We will be making the reservation on your behalf and you can coordinate payment with Garrett or Ashleigh after you have RSVP. We will also be providing group transportation.

Tioman Island FAQs

How do I get to Tioman Island? Transportation to and from the island will be provided for all guests who want to join. There will be a charted shuttle leaving from a designated pick-up point that will take you to the jetty in Mersing, Johor. This is a 4-6 hour bus ride. Depending on the stops we make. At the jetty, there will 2 hour boat ride in a covered ferry that will take you to Tioman Island. The ferry to Tioman leaves at 12PM 8/29/25 and the return ferry leaves at 3PM on 9/1/25. Do I have to pay for meals? A total of 5 buffet meals are included with the booking of your room. There are also a few restaurants by the resort, and/or other hotels which you can choose to eat at your own expense if you’d prefer. Buffet meals included: Day 1 - Dinner Day 2 - Breakfast/Lunch/Dinner Day 3 - Breakfast The full board package is only for 3D2N, so day 3 onwards, you can either order from the hotel’s menu or explore other options on the island. We would advise that you bring cash in MYR to pay for any purchases outside of the hotel. What is there to do on Tioman Island? Tioman is the perfect scenic island to relax. There are crystal clear waters, sandy beaches, several hiking trails, ATVs, waterfalls and beautiful snorkeling/diving sites. We plan to schedule a group snorkeling trip for all those who are interested. Other Travel Tips

While travelling internationally, the best way to have service on your phone without having to buy an international roaming plan, is by downloading an ESim App. The one we use in Malaysia is Hotlink. Other options are Airalo, Holafly and Saily. If you need to access some US websites internationally, you may need a VPN app to connect to any US bill pay or personal banking apps. We would recommend downloading "VPN-Super Unlimited Proxy" This is a free VPN app that can connect you to a US IP address in order for you to access US websites that may not be directly accessible while abroad.
