Maj (Jess) and Maz (Zach) met in New York, where Jess had been living for some time, and Zach pretended to have been living for some time. Within minutes of making each other's acquaintance, after realizing that the date spot Zach had conveniently selected across the street from his apartment was unexpectedly closed, and Zach not having a backup plan in mind nor able to think on his feet because of an immediate sense of intimidation attributable to Jess's stunning looks, Jess took charge, hailed a cab, directed them to a rooftop bar with a ping pong table where she handily beat Zach, and Zach fell in love. The next day, knowing Maj was the one, Maz invited Maj to be his guest at his friend's wedding a month out, all but ensuring a second date.
A Covid lockdown wasn't going to stop Zach from making it official. Our apartment looks down on a dog run, which sits on the corner of a large parking garage. I tend to meander over to the window to check out the doggies whenever I have a free second, and when I did it this particular morning, I saw Zach's proposal chalked in giant letters across the top of the parking garage. The next thing I knew, Zach was on one knee and I was his bride-to-be!
