Why Buena Vista?

James and Chelsea love escaping to the mountains to camp in the summer and ski in the winter. Buena Vista captures everything they love about Colorado: breathtaking views of the Collegiate Peaks, the flowing Arkansas River, and a charming small-town feel. It’s the perfect place to celebrate their wedding and share a true Colorado mountain experience with family and friends.

If they are not listed on your invitation, we kindly ask that they do not attend.

Our wedding celebrations will be adults-only (but we still love your little ones!).

Is there a Wedding Ceremony?

We are keeping the ceremony small and private with just our immediate family. We can’t wait to celebrate the rest of the weekend with all of our loved ones at the events outlined in our schedule.

What is the dress code?

Answer

Welcome Party Mountain Chic (Dressy Casual): Stylish yet relaxed—think breezy summer dresses, nice jeans or slacks, with a polished top. Reception Formal Cocktail Attire: Suits and gowns are encouraged, or tailored separates and elevated cocktail dresses. Brunch Casual Brunch Attire: Polished but relaxed—come as you are.

What’s the weather like in Buena Vista at the end of June?

Buena Vista is known for its beautiful mountain summers! You can expect warm, sunny days (mid 70-low 80s) and cool evenings (low-mid 50s). The air is dry and rain is uncommon but possible—with brief afternoon mountain showers. We recommend light layers, sunscreen, lip balm and a jacket/wrap for the evenings. Don't forget to bring your bathing suit! The Surf Hotel has a salt water hot tub, and the Arkansas River is just steps from the property.

What to know about the elevation in Buena Vista?

Answer

Buena Vista is located at roughly 8,000 ft. When traveling here directly from sea level, there may be a risk of altitude sickness. Be sure to stay hydrated in the week leading up to the wedding, and of course when you arrive!

Yes, there is free parking outside of the Surf Hotel and along the side streets.

Yes, but availability is limited and wait times can be long.

Yes! There is a City Market in town, about a 7-min drive from the Surf Hotel.
