Like most couples these days, they met by swiping right. For some of you older folks who aren’t familiar with this term, they met on a dating app. They both lived in Chicago and met for some drinks at a bar in Wrigleyville on a sunday night in April. The night before they met, Kevin actually saw Emily out at a bar and said to his friend, “I think that’s Tinder girl!”. He didn’t have the nerve to go up to her that night and waited until Sunday to officially meet her. Kevin and Emily bonded over sports, love for their families, lake days, and a passion to help others. After a few hours they parted ways. Kevin went for a walk along the lake and was thinking when can he see this girl next and Emily immediately texted her mom and said how nice of a guy Kevin was and how much they had in common. A few days later they went for dinner, and continued to go on dates. Over the next two months they quickly realized how much they enjoyed spending time with one another and Kevin asked Emily to be his girlfriend while going for a walk along Lake Michigan. Walking along the lake continues to be a passion of theirs, and is one of the reasons why they chose their venue to be on Lake Michigan!

It was February 16, 2019 and Kevin had a Valentine’s day planned for Emily. Little did she know that he had planned this day out all the way back in November and both families knew what was coming! All Emily knew was to dress nice and be ready to leave by 4:00. Kevin ordered the uber, so Emily still had no idea where they were going even after they left. They arrived at Navy Pier, in Kevin fashion of course, extra early, so they walked around for a bit. Emily still wasn’t sure exactly what they were doing. Was it a boat cruise? Was it a play at the theatre? When it was time, Kevin took Emily outside and escorted her to the VIP gondola on the Navy Pier Ferris Wheel. Per usual, things didn’t go as Kevin had planned; no champagne, no flowers, only going around one time despite a half hour reservation. However all this was minimal, because after things got sorted out, Kevin got down on one knee, inside the small gondola, and asked Emily Kay Lawrence to spend forever with him. Of course she said YES!
