John and Rachel first met in 2018 in Rachel's home town of Beverly, Ma. Shortly after John began working at the infamous local bar "The Picked Onion", the two hit it off instantly. Mix in a spontaneous Jamaican vacation or two and the couple fell in love. And before they knew it, the Army was sending John to Oklahoma for 6 months. Rachel reluctantly passed on the exciting opportunity to live in a hotel in Lawton, Oklahoma (Shocking) and began planning for their new life together in Savannah, Georgia. March of 2020 was a miserable time for most of the world as the Covid-Craze kicked off. For John & Rachel March 2020 was one of the best times of their lives. The two packed up in Boston and drove to Savannah to start the next chapter of life together. In a three week span the two bought their first house and adopted the charming, loveable, infamous Louie (that's Mr. Louis to you). The good times could only roll for so long as a few short months later John was sent to South Korea for 9 Months. This was the hardest time of both John & Rachel's lives but turns out, time also flies when you are NOT having fun! John returned to Savannah to loads of love, where the couple enjoyed a year of easy(ish) living on the water with Mr. Lou. After enjoying the Sunshine of Coastal Georgia for three years it was time to return home to Boston in the fall of 2022, where John had a big surprise waiting for Rachel.

Rachel is impossible to hide surprises from so this plan had to be elaborate. With the help from a few close friends and family members who all played an essential role - He actually pulled it off! During the summer of 2022, John informed Rachel of a Military Alumni event at the MIT Boat House that he really wanted to attend. After some push back from the bride to be - she finally agreed to attend. The week of the proposal, Rachel not only refused to get her nails done but decided to try out a new hair style... spoiler alert - she hated it. Nevertheless, John was able to get Rachel in a beautiful black dress for what she thought would be a fancy night on the town (backup dresses and stick on nails were at the ready but not needed!). Upon arriving at a near empty boat house, Rachel became rather irritated as it was clear John had the wrong location! While yelling at John for bringing her to the wrong place, she looked up and realized they were exactly where they were supposed to be. John got down on one knee with the city of Boston in the background, and Rachel stood in shock. A few pictures and tears later, John had one more surprise up his sleeve. An engagement party waiting for her with all of their closest friends in attendance. Turns out Rachel found someone who can surprise her every now and then.
