We met during the height of the Covid-19 Pandemic in the Spring of 2020 on a dating app. We were living down the street from each other( 5 Min walk, 1 Min drive) in Buzzards Bay, Massachusetts. We had lived down the street from each other for about 2 years and never came across each other until then. We had a lot in common and talked for a few weeks until agreeing to meet in person. Since everything was closed due to Covid our first date was a walk around the neighborhood where we walked and talked for hours. Our second date was on the beach in freezing April talking and drinking craft beers sitting 6 feet apart 😂. Our third date was spent talking for 12 hours straight.
Portland Maine has been one of our favorite places to visit together and we try to go up at least once or twice a year. We love exploring the restaurants, shops, parks, and craft beer scene, and we love how relaxing and peaceful Maine is(and Kristen's allergies magically disappear once we leave Massachusetts into New Hampshire). I knew that Christian had my ring already(which I had designed but not seen, hello Virgo ♍ 🤪😂) but I did not know where or when it would happen. Christian also enjoyed constantly pretending to propose but would instead tie his shoe 🤣. We went up to Portland in October and took a walk by the ocean like we always do by this old train car/museum(we both like trains and find the sound to be very relaxing) . We walked further this time and it turns out there were trails and a park over there on the ocean and it followed the rocky Portland coast. We kept walking for a while and the sun was starting to set, and he proposed by the beautiful Maine coast.
