Like many modern love stories, ours began with a dating app. In August 2024, after hearing "you should really try Bumble" one too many times from friends and family, we both decided to give it a chance. Neither of us had particularly high expectations, we were simply open to meeting someone new. A few days later, we matched. Gabriela sent the first message. Alex replied. What Gabriela didn't know at the time was that Alex wasn't entirely convinced she was real. The slightly imperfect English in her messages made him wonder if he was talking to a scammer. Fortunately, curiosity won. Alex suggested meeting for brunch at Butchers & Bakers on a Saturday morning, and that's where everything began. The conversation flowed so naturally that neither of us wanted the date to end. By the time Alex drove Gabriela home, we had already planned a second date. Under the perfect disguise of his birthday, he arranged a private visit during the final hour at a museum in downtown Hartford and carefully planned every detail without giving away a single clue. What Gabriela thought was just another date quickly became one of the most unforgettable moments of her life. It was thoughtful. It was unexpected. It was beautiful. And it was absolutely perfect.
