Answer

We love getting dressed up for special occasions, so semi-formal attire is appropriate. Gowns and suits are acceptable, but so are cocktail dresses and dress shirts with ties.

What is the weather like in Knoxville?

Answer

October in Knoxville is warm during the day, and cools down after sunset. Expect 70s and 80s during the day and 60s at night.

Is the wedding indoors or outdoors?

Answer

The ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception will all be outdoors. In the event that it rains, we will provide umbrellas for all guests at the ceremony, and the cocktail hour and reception will have coverage.

On wedding day, our ceremony will start at 3:00pm, and the reception will end at 8:00pm. Our optional afterparty will immediately follow our reception, and gests are welcome to stay out as long as they like! How will we get to the venue from our hotel and vis versa?

Answer

If you are not staying at Ancient Lore Village, we recommend driving your personal car or arranging a taxi or uber ride to the venue. Please plan to arrive no later than 2:45pm to Ancient Lore Village as the ceremony will begin promptly at 3:00pm. Anyone who arrives after the ceremony has started will not be able to enter the ceremony site. Once the reception has concluded, we welcome you to join in our after party festivities. If you chose to drive your own car (or rental car) to the ceremony, you'll want to drive to the afterparty. There are a couple parking garages nearby — State Street Garage or Market Square Garage — that your car will be safe at. Otherwise, if you arranged an uber or a taxi ride to the ceremony, you'll want to do the same to get to the afterparty or back to your hotel. If you choose to opt out of the afterparty, no worries! Feel free to head back to your hotel when the reception is over. ***Please note: If you are not staying at Ancient Lore Village the night of the wedding, you will not be able to leave your car there overnight, so please plan accordingly!

When should I check in/check out?

Answer

We highly recommend checking in on Thursday the 10th, as we know most everyone will have to travel near and far. That way, you can have some time to settle in to your hotel and get familiar with the area before wedding day! The ceremony will start at 3:00pm on Friday the 11th, and generally check in times won't be until late afternoon anyway, so arriving on Thursday the 10th would be best for all. As far as checkout, we'll be heading back to MD to pack up for our honeymoon on Saturday the 12th, but feel free to extend your stay through the rest of the weekend and enjoy the city of Knoxville while you're down there! There's plenty of great shops, restaurants, bars, and things to do, especially in Market Square in the center of downtown. Check the "Things To Do" tab for our recommendations! Please do keep in mind that if you would like to extend your stay, and you have chosen to stay at Ancient Lore Village, you will be required to check out of ALV on Saturday the 12th due to the fact that there will likely be another wedding on that day that the rooms will need to be reserved for.
