Long time brother of the groom, they squabbled incessantly as children until Patrick succumbed to Philip's superior intellect, or the both became more mature... it probably had more to do with Philip's intellect. They became best fiends toward the end of Philip's highschool career and Patrick followed Philip to college at the the University of Minnesota. Patrick owes his future career and happiness to Philip (he doesn't at all) despite the fact that Patrick is very independent, committed to Jesus, and hardworking. Patrick and Philip have only not lived together for 3 years of their shared lives.

Philip met Chris as Chris was dating his wife Rose. Rose and Philip are in the same Christian group. Philip and Chris became quick friends as they shared similar interests in books, sports, board games, alcohol, etc. Philip lived with Chris' family and this allowed Phil to have a special friendship with Chris and Rose's young kids. Chris has been a mentor for Philip over the past 2 years and his friendship, patience, and dependability have been invaluable to Philip.

Philip has known Kevin since highschool. They attended college together and lived together for a few years. Kevin mentored Philip for a short time as well. Kevin is a always well dressed, professional, and put-together ( think wall street guy without the snooty self absorption and you got it). Phil is an engineer with a tendency towards the ridiculous. Despite these differences, their friendship had been strong and invaluable to Philip. Kevin is one of the most patient and generous people that Philip knows.

Isaac Willard and Philip have been friends since high school and have done many of the same things together: high school, high school soccer, mission trips, engineering school, lived together, long study nights with gallons of coffee, camping trips, board game nights, etc. Despite not living together anymore, people still get them confused with each other. They lived together longer than they lived with some of their own siblings. Isaac is a stubborn man of faith and the hardest worker you'll meet. He is also one of the most compassionate men you'll meet.

Philip has known John since high school. John is a few years older than Phil, but that did not prevent them from starting a friendship that grew as they attended college together and took part in the same Christian group. John also mentored Philip in college and this provided further opportunity to grow in friendship. John moved across the country to, among other very important things, find his wife. Philip eventually forgave this and despite not living close geographically, their friendship remains strong.
