We have mutual friends who were having a 30th birthday celebration... he happened to be bouncing a friend’s fairly new baby on his hip, which as anyone knows is basically catnip for any single woman who loves her proxy nephews… so that’s what prompted an introduction!!! The rest, as they say, is history. 😋
We had been (informally) discussing marriage for quite some time. One night we were sitting on our bed talking about it again when he suddenly got very serious and said “Ok, I’m going to propose to you in two weeks. I want you to think very seriously about it so you are sure about your answer.” The response: “…I don’t need two weeks - my answer will be the same two weeks from now as it is today…” He suddenly got up and walked down the hall to the living room, came back to the bedroom with a hose clamp (the only ring-shaped object he had available in that moment), and got down on one knee right there and then.
Deaths, hospitalizations, mysterious illnesses, injuries and near death experiences... life has never been more extraordinarily difficult or exceptionally stressful on a truly existential level. We’ve somehow managed to get through it all, and we’ve been so thankful to find it has made us stronger than ever.
We could not be more excited to FINALLY enjoy our engagement and have a wedding with all our most beloved people (Covid-willing, of course).
