Question

What made you choose San Miguel for a wedding destination?

Answer

The night of our engagement we discussed possibilities for a wedding and agreed on an overall theme: A wedding steeped in Mexican heritage yet balanced with our own modern tastes. And of course a destination wedding, in Mexico! "What about San Miguel?" It's funny because neither of us had ever visited San Miguel. However, it was as if our minds were made up before we touched down for our first visit shortly after the engagement. San Miguel is truly a magical place. It is colorful, it is vibrant, it is relaxing, and it is full of charm. San Miguel is nestled in the Mexican highlands, so no beaches. But, that also means no masses of tourists like you'll find in the popular coastal cities. San Miguel has been voted the number one city in the world by Travel + Leisure two years in a row. We are positive that once you experience the narrow cobblestone streets, quaint courtyards, beautiful flowers everywhere and warm hospitality you'll love it just as much as we do.

Question

Do you recommend Airbnb for lodging?

Answer

Yes. 100%. Airbnb as well as VRBO is widely available in San Miguel. With these short term rental options, you can experience several different types of accommodations. There are options from small apartments, to colonial-chic homes with courtyards, to expansive haciendas for larger families or groups. When we visited San Miguel for the 1st time we rented a small, modern apartment and took advantage of the kitchen to cook a lot of meals for the week. By doing this we got to experience the local life by doing our shopping at the meat markets (carnicerias), vegetable and fruit markets, and small tortilla factories (tortillerias). Booking an Airbnb or VRBO is a great (and inexpensive way) to experience San Miguel and also be very centrally located. It is also highly recommended for families or groups. We have found that in San Miguel you definitely benefit from economies of scale when considering larger properties.

Question

What about hotels?

Answer

San Miguel has a plethora of hotels to accommodate all budgets. Most are small, boutique style properties that include gorgeous courtyards and roof-top patios. They typically include coffee and homemade Mexican breakfasts in the rate. If you need help selecting a hotel please reach out to us, we love helping plan! For those who want to indulge, San Miguel has some incredible splurge-worthy hotels. The styles range from elegant old-world to modern and chic. Here are some options for some of the top hotels in San Miguel. 1. Hotel Matilda 2. Rosewood San Miguel 3. Casa de Sierra Nevada (The Belmond) 4. L'Otel at Doce 18 Concept House 5. Casa No Name

Question

Will there be a room block?

Answer

Yep - for those not interested in searching for an AirBnb or hotel, we have blocked out some options for hotels. Check out the Travel page for info.
