Franklin Hernandez: The Artisan Behind Semifreddo Italian Cuisine Chef Franklin Hernandez discovered his calling as a teenager when he took his first job as a pizza maker at Ecco Café Pizzeria in Old Town Alexandria in 1988. Over the years, the owner opened other Italian restaurants in Arlington and Shirlington, where Franklin cooked and served as an assistant manager.
Middleburg is a very quaint one-stoplight town that is surrounded by a number of favorite wineries. For food we recommend King Street Oyster House, which has a fantastic happy hour every day from 3-6:30pm.
Blooming Hill is a tiny “farmlet” owned by Cyndie and Peter Rinek and situated on four acres in the rolling foothills of the Blue Ridge in Western Loudoun County, Northern Virginia. It is not only a business but also their home where they welcome visitors to peruse and enjoy their garden gift shop and, most especially, their gardens that highlight their collection of 1000 lavender plants in almost 100 different varieties lovingly tended throughout the property.
