Though Max and I knew one another existed, we didn't cross paths until July of 2021. He sent a message congratulating me on getting my masters degree and the rest was history... We met up on a (partially) blind date at Kengo Sushi downtown. I wasn’t aware of what Max actually looked like, seeing as though he hadn’t updated his Instagram in years. We laughed for hours and didn’t want the night to end. I knew he was special when he surprised me with flowers after our first date. We started officially dating a few months later and have been inseparable ever since. We feel so lucky to have found each other!
What started out as a dinner turned into a proposal... Max and I had a dinner planned for that night at Claude's in Perrysburg. When he came out in dress pants, I had a feeling something was up. I mentally prepared myself that I was in fact getting engaged that night. I then planned my outfit accordingly, obviously. After dinner, I was certain he was going to take me out in the courtyard area to propose. As we exited the restaurant, he quickly walked to his car and we left... Saying I was bummed was an understatement. Max started speeding home, literally going through yellow lights. When I asked why he was in such a hurry he said he felt really sick and needed to get back to our condo. We quickly pulled in the driveway and rushed into the house. Little did I know, our families had been there while we were at dinner getting everything set up. Surprised is an absolute understatement.... There was a long red walkway lined with candles and flower petals. Max proposed in the very first place we lived together, which couldn't have been more perfect. We laughed, cried, and Max even held the ring box upside down when he was asking me to marry him. My sister drove all the way home from Cincinnati so she could be there to secretly record the whole thing. After the proposal, our families came back over to celebrate. It was the best night ever...
