Everette and I met in the back of an ambulance. I was a student at the time, and doing my clinical rides. We instantly clicked and became a great team. Months later when I started working at Houston, I ran into him outside of the emergency room. I remember how he smiled at me and rushed over to speak to me. I had the biggest crush on him, and he had no idea, so I got up the courage and asked him to breakfast after work. We talked for hours about anything and everything, and I knew he was special. The very next day, we made plans for dinner with friends. Since that evening, we haven't spent a single day apart. We became best friends, and fell so deeply in love with one another, and I'm the happiest I've ever been in my life. Now that we're getting married, we get to share our love, happiness, and friendship forever. I am the luckiest woman in the world!
In May of 2017 I got hurt at work, putting my entire life on pause while I had surgery on my neck and recovered. This kept me at home and completely threw the plan I had to propose to Gabby out of the window. You know what they say of best laid plans.. About 6 weeks later, I'm recovering from surgery and improving. Gabby had taken off time to help me recover, (seriously, she is the best). I'm sitting in a recliner listening to her talk and it just hits me in full force that I have this beautiful, strong woman who put her life on hold when everything happened to help me in the toughest experience I've had. I got down on one knee and looked up at her (the best I could with a hard collar on) and told her how grateful I was and that the only thing that could make me more lucky is if she would marry me. She helped me stand back up and made me the happiest man in the world!
