It simply all started with just three letters.... P.O.F!! Lol. That's right, Gabby and I met on the notoriously shady, yet promising online dating app Plenty of Fish. Gabby was working in Miami and I was attending grad school in northern Florida. We sporadically chatted online and via text for a few years. Then one cheesy, yet inspiring text containing a photo of my sister's dog dressed up playing poker, paved the way for much more talking and to our official first date. We met at a restaurant, followed by wine tasting. (She just found out about a year ago that the wine tasting was a Groupon. 😂 🤷🏽♀️ ....In my defense Groupons are a great first date option because if you don't connect you're not out too much, LOL.) Needless to say, we connected. ....And now many, many more Groupon adventures later, I find myself falling even more madly in love with the extraordinary woman who had the courage to respond to a dog playing poker.
Gabby and I are very much opposites...different in so many ways. She's always cold, I'm always hot. I'm neat and organized, Gabby... I'll plead the 5th. I talk a lot to anyone, Gabby...not so much. She mentioned that she wanted a "quiet, intimate" proposal, along with a "big, shiny" ring. I only heard the ring part. Which brings us to... The Flash Mob Proposal! LOL Good thing opposites attract 😉. Planning the proposal started out calm and uneventful. Let me paint a picture: I figured hire a flash mob company, tell Gabby that we're going to meet friends for a "birthday weekend" and then instead, BOOM! Flash mob proposal. Sounds simple, right? UNTIL....Hurricane Irma decided to hit St. Pete the exact day of said flash mob proposal! Now a different picture: lots of pretend dog walks, trips to the mailbox to reschedule everything all while keeping it a secret from my wonderful, yet nosy (hehe), soon to be fiance. One of Gabby's friends ended up being a diamond mule to get the ring made and delivered on time, LOL. Irma was affecting everything! I couldn't even convince Gabby to get her nails done, LOL. Thank God for her friends-soon to be bridesmaids. On proposal day, we amazingly made it to the destination on time and the next 5 minutes were quite possibly the longest, yet best, of my life. Gabby looked stunning (your makeup was on point babe) I had to leave a few buttons open on my shirt because I stress ate all the hurricane snacks, LOL. She as always appeared so calm, even as the girls led her to the middle for the proposal. I was very nervous, secretly hoping I didn't sweat through my shirt, while miserably failing to dance. As I think back to that day, and about our relationship in general, I wouldn't change a single detail. I absolutely adore that Gabby and I balance and complement each other. Even when things aren't perfect, we make it perfect for us. Enjoy our proposal video, you'll see she's glad she got her nails done 😉. https://youtu.be/jyC11peyXv4
