We ran right into each other...

Asrat's Version: The first time I saw Gabby was on a Saturday long run with Back on My Feet Baltimore, training for my first marathon. From my understanding, most of the folks from our running group don't like running with me because I have two gears when I start running: run fast or make sure there is no one in front of me and I also don't do much talking. I was too chicken to talk to her so I had to fake an injury in the Baltimore Marathon to get her attention. Just kidding...I was really injured and to my surprise, she stopped to help me and finished the race with me. It was October 19th, 2019. My birthday. It took me another 5-6 months to send her a message, but hey...it was a start. Gabby's Version: I knew Asrat from running. I knew he was fast and also quiet, which was nice, because I don't like chatting much when I run. Not that we really ran together much, he was a little too fast for me. We first really talked on October 19th. I was running the half-marathon and I was struggling. A running buddy stayed with me and wouldn't let me give up, so when we came across Asrat in the last mile of the race (mile 26 for him, 13 for us) I knew we couldn't leave him either. We finished the last mile together that day and then found out it was his birthday! He sent me a message on Strava in April, just a few months later lol, but I may have ignored him. He invited me to run! Umm...I wasn't interested in dying. He tried again a few weeks later and I gave him my number so we could plan this run, but we ended up just chatting and getting to know each other. He started bringing home-cooked meals to my job for lunch and taking me on picnics. My mom was stuck here due to COVID, so she got to get to know him right along with me. This meant the world to me. I think we both knew very early on that this was going to be something special. God was doing something very special indeed. (I still won't run with him BTW lol).
