The Broadway Love Story

"That wasn't a date..."

In August of 2018, Adam moved to Southie and got a job serving at The Broadway South Boston. During his first training shift, he was introduced to the staff while getting a tour of the restaurant. Gabby happened to be working that night and claims to not remember meeting Adam, but Adam will never forget the interaction behind table 16. Eventually, Adam and Gabby were put on the same Friday night shift. In the coming months, they began to get to know each other as they worked together. At The Broadway, employees would receive 50% off food during a shift. But, if you split a meal with a coworker, the meal was free. It was a great conversation over a free Broadway Burger that led them to their first date...or so Adam thought. In December, Adam finally mustered up the courage to ask Gabby out for drinks. After a few excuses as to why she couldn't, Gabby finally agreed. They decided to go to Bar Taco on a Thursday night. Adam was excited, dressed in a button down and khaki pants. Gabby texted Adam as he was on the way saying that she was coming from a workout class, apologizing that her "face was as red as a tomato." It was a great night of getting to know each other more, but Adam later found out; "That wasn't a date, I came from a workout class, so it doesn't count." Adam was never really much of a math guy, but that didn't quite add up. He kept that to himself and invited Gabby to Loon Mountain to snowboard in January as he learned it was a passion of hers. Gabby agreed, but the day before she "accidentally" invited her roommate to join them. A friend of Adam's decided to help him out and join what was now a double date on the mountain. They had a great day, and Adam sat up front with Gabby on the way home where they talked for 2 hours straight while their friends slept. Another wonderful date in Adam's eyes, but he later learned; "That wasn't a date, my roommate and your friend were there, so it doesn't count." Adam learned his lesson. He decided for the next date, he was going to be very explicit and buy two tickets to the Bruins game. Once again, they had a great night as they watched the Bruins beat the Blues in what would eventually be a Stanley Cup matchup. This time... it was finally a date. The rest is history, but no date will compare to 9.1.24!
