So you know how people always say 'by 16 you've met your partner? In our case, it's true. We've been "neighbors", and apparently soulmates, our whole life. We grew up in the same city, went to the same schools and even supported one another in sporting events, but never held a conversation. We had some of the same friends, went to the same parties but overlooked each other all the time. Years pass by and it's her that makes an attempt to take him away from the market. She was successful, but she had no clue he was going to take her off the market for good. We formed an amazing friendship and we never wanted to be away from each other because all we did was laugh or have great conversations. Seriously, some of our dates didn't end until 4 AM. It was so hard to believe that we would have or could have had this bond the whole time. My favorite thing about us is that we have a strong friendship based in many similarities. We are truly yin and yang; where one falls short, the other excels abundantly! His favorite thing about us is how much we love each other “because while I’m thinking about you, you’re thinking about me”. I'm happy we didn't get too far, My Hidden Gem.
It was our one year anniversary and he took me on a private tour of the Georgia Aquarium. It was so intimate and something seemed a little more special than usual. Juan was wiping his forehead the whole time we were at the aquarium and checking his phone every 5 minutes. Something was off but I ignored it because maybe my baby was just hot. We went into this beautifully lit room where our tour guide presented different shells to us. He told me to open a few to see the pearls that were inside which I thought was cool because I wanted to see if it shells had actual pearls inside. So I opened it up and omg the pearl said Will You Marry Me? and I dropped the shell so fast and turned around and my honey was on his knee with a ring! The most beautiful ring coming from the most beautiful man for the most beautiful woman. I couldn't believe it. I mean I could because I knew something was up but omg not this! I looked around and the tour guide was just smiling and there was a. guy taking photos! I felt so special. Little did I know it was not over! Once we walked out to leave the aquarium there was a ton, AND I MEAN A TON, of our friends and family there with love, support, engagement signs, food, and beverages. The love and celebration continued to the lawn of the aquarium. He knows I do not like surprises but the support from all of those people was overwhelming I couldn't deny it! I was overjoyed with my anniversary, my ring, my friends + family and above all my new fiancée.
