Our Story

A redheaded kid from Charlestown decides to join a spring break trip to the Bahamas run by a group of girls from West Roxbury, “What Could Go Wrong…. As fate would have it, the right question to ask would be “What Could Go Right?”. Some of you may be thinking. "Haven't we heard this story before?", and the answer is 'Yes' you have! Ronan's brother Nolan and his wife Therese met in the Bahamas on the same high school senior trip, at the same resort just a few years earlier! Ronan decided to join the spring break trip run by a few of Gabby’s friends, even though he only knew a few other kids from Charlestown who attended Boston Latin. Coming from Malden Catholic, Ronan saw it as an opportunity to get some experience talking to girls before heading off to UMass Amherst that fall; however, what he ended up with was a lot more. Gabby on the other hand was ready for a break from worrying about being accepted into a college nursing program and more importantly getting a nice tan. While Gabby was putting on tanning lotion she looked over and saw this pasty white Irish kid with red hair laying out in the sun. She asked do you have sunscreen on your going to get burnt. Ronan quickly responded with “Who are you, my mother?” Gabby, not wanting Ronan to think he got the better of her quickly jabbed back with some remarks. The seemingly hostile interaction at first quickly turned into witty banter and laughter between the two, who sat there in the sun all day discussing who Ronan was and what he was doing there (and yes Ronan did get sunburnt that day). Gabby having only two sisters and a few cousins did not realize that this innocent conversation would sign her up for Ronan’s seven siblings, ten aunts and uncles, thirty-two first cousins and whoever walked through the doors of Ronan’s Mothers house. The sheer size of Ronan’s family did not intimidate Gabby though, because as many of you know she can talk to a wall (and often does). Ronan also did not realize that this conversation would lead him to becoming a defacto brother to her two younger sisters at the time and being asked questions like “do you like him” from Gabby’s family when asked about the sisters’ boyfriends. To this day Ronan hasn’t met one that he hasn’t liked out of fear of what the sisters might say in response. Since that fateful comment of “Who are you, my mother?” Gabby and Ronan have been best friends and together ever since. You’ll often find the two at a multitude of events (because Gabby can’t say no to things) but on opposite sides of the room. Gabby will be in one corner entertaining her friends, family or even strangers while Ronan will be in the other corner (where you can still hear Gabby’s voice) answering the age-old question of “what are you doing here”. This plan to divide and conquer the room has led to developing great friendships and memories along the way. It is those same friendships and memories which have led us to take the next step in our life journey with all of you. We hope you enjoy the weekend at Owl’s Nest Resort and are excited to see every one of you.

For all the days along the way
