We met in one of the most beautiful....ly sterile places that you could imagine, a Level One Trauma Center in Denver, CO. In the midst of a pandemic when it was illegal to meet anyone, Gabby was trying to figure out if Nate was married with a hyphenated last name and Nate was trying to figure out how he was going to ask Gabby out. It might have taken a lost needle in the OR to kick off a conversation, but it took two months for a friend to have us meet at a dog park (still a debate as to whether this was Nate's idea). Gabby knew when Nate gave his last jalapeño popper to Maisy that he was the one, and Nate knew he was done for if Maisy was actually lactose intolerant, like she said. From navigating winding trails in the Rockies to finding a place to call home, from exploring different countries to discovering each other over the last five years—love grew in every step, every lesson, and every adventure shared. Nate was finally able to build up the courage to propose in the Azores islands of Portugal in August of 2023 (which the specific location happened to be a unofficial outhouse - don't ask for more details, please). We are fortunate to share our commitment to each other in a place that we have created as a home, with everyone we call family.
