Gabby and Colton met at the University of Notre Dame during Gabby’s senior year and Colton’s time in his Master’s program. After frequently crossing paths at the gym, Colton finally introduced himself. What started as a brief conversation soon turned into a lighthearted exchange of song recommendations whenever they saw one another — a simple excuse for conversation. After several weeks, Colton asked Gabby for her number. That weekend, at the final football game of the season, was perfect opportunity to spend time together, marking the true beginning of their story. After the football game came their first official date: coffee and studying at the Morris Inn. What began as a quiet study session quickly gave way to laughter and fun conversation, revealing just how compatible they were. After the Morris Inn and the amazing times that followed, Gabby and Colton fell in love. Their time at Notre Dame was truly unforgettable. However, little did they know, Gabby and Colton would have to face 2 years of long distance upon graduating. Gabby was commissioning into the Army and moving to Virginia, and later Florida, to attend Explosive Ordnance Disposal School. On the other hand, Colton was relocating to Los Angeles with the Air Force to work as an Operations Analyst. Despite being 2,700 miles a part and a three hour time difference, they were determined to make it work. Colton and Gabby made it a priority to visit each other at least once a month. Their time apart was marked by countless flights to Clarksville, Richmond, Los Angeles, and Destin — each trip adding to a collection of irreplaceable memories. Through intentional communication, unwavering support, and a shared vision for the future, their relationship deepened and matured, strengthening the foundation of their soon lifelong commitment. During a very special trip to California, Colton took Gabby to El Matador Beach in Malibu and asked her to spend forever with him. When she said yes, it sparked the most memorable weekend of their lives so far. They spent the weekend celebrating their engagement, exploring Santa Barbara, and admiring Gabby's new ring. Around a year later, Gabby and Colton received the exciting news that the military would be assigning them to the same area — Gabby to Fort Carson and Colton to Schriever Space Force Base. Not only were these excellent assignments, but they were also less than thirty minutes apart. Gabby and Colton have worked so hard to not only survive long distance, but let their spark grow through the trial. They are so excited to share their special day with so many of the people that mean the most to them!
