We met when Kayla started attending my church, Finley. When Kayla's previous church closed, her & her family starting attending Finley. We cannot remember our exact age but we think we were around 7 or 8. Kayla & I would hang out in Sunday school, junior church, & after church. Our first ever phone call was when I threw a snowball at Kayla after church & my mom made me call her and apologize. As we got older we kind of lost connection, but started hanging out again when Kathy Gilkey begged Kayla to be in the 2012 Easter play at church. Kayla was very hesitant to act in the play but she gave in to Kathy's begging. This is when we continued our friendship. We spent evenings together working on the play and talked and hung out at the church. I asked Kayla for her number so we could talk during the day away from the play. We got to know each other again over the next couple months. A camp that our church sends its youth to called CYF was coming up & again Kathy asked if Kayla wanted to go. She really wasn't interested (are you sensing a theme here?) but with some coaxing she gave in. We spent a lot of time together that week & sometime during that week we agreed that we start dating on June 26, 2012. The rest is history. 2017: I move to Savannah Georgia in September. Engagement story: I told Kayla I wanted her to come down to Georgia so she could ride home with me for Thanksgiving. We bought her plane ticket she came down Nov 16. She had no idea that I was planning to ask her to marry me. I told her to bring a particular dress, she asked "are you taking me out for my birthday", I said "yeah...” it works because her birthday is 11/27. November 18th I took her Hilton Head Island in South Carolina to the top of the light house, where she was reluctant to participate, again. at Harbor Town & proposed. She couldn't believe I was actually proposing, asking me "is this for real?!" and crying. I had to ask her again because she got distracted... then she finally said yes.
