Maid of Honor
Stacey. I have the deepest forever love for you! You truly ground me. Very grateful to God when I look back on our times as roommates, you as an RA, and those carts! So many laughs and memories that I’ll never forget. From the moment we met, I was telling you about boy stuff, ha! I knew then, I could share anything with you and you would get it. Such a rarity to find a true friend that speaks the same language of love and understanding that you speak! I don’t have to spend hours translating my soul. You have a way of making people feel seen and heard. The way you walk people through free thinking and dynamic solutions with such realness and care is so admirable. You’re a gorgeous rebel. In the best way, you are yourself. And you aspire the people around you to be authentic.

You are such a balance in my life. When I think of you, I think of resilience, joy, and light. I look up to your marriage with Dwayne and to see the progression has been heart-warming. You are prayerful and encouraging and couldn’t have called on anyone but you in my hard and difficult conflicts. I remember how known I felt when you shared your friendship journey. I will always hold those nuggets closely in my own journey with reconciliation and friends. I love our shared love for Johnnyswim, elephants, and basketball. I just know you were specific and needed puzzle piece to fit into my heart. I love seeing how hype you get when NC is playing. You are my Malawi 🇲🇼 queen that leads life with such a graceful spirt and the best cook! Still drooling over the stew you made and can’t wait for more sleepovers when our husbands are away!

Kiki, do you know I love you? Lollll, see what I did there! But, seriously, I am so glad that you moved here from NY! You are my answered prayer. You truly came into my life and shook it up with your energy and love for life! You are hilarious, and I can’t see my life without you now. Thank you for being you in any given situation and bringing people together as the ultimate hostess. You’re incredibly generous and have taught me so much through your gifts. We’re complete opposites but, somehow, it works. You know how to crack open any shell and pull out deep layers. I need that and need I remind everyone how beautiful you are?! Also, I can’t keep anything from you because you already know how to read between the lines by what I’m actually trying to say. You are a safe person and you are fearless! You don’t let anything stop you or others from pursuing their dreams, their past hurts, etc.

India bindia. I hear your voice and how you would probably respond with charleney-poo! When I go down memory lane, I owe the start of something beautiful to that trip to Augusta. I’ve seen you grow up into such a lovely and strong lady that is one of my besties! No other person would I wanna talk braids and our boos with. I love how goofy our friendship is but also how there’s a lot of depth there too. Thank you for being there for me and receiving anyone and everyone with no judgment. I’m grateful for reconnection this past year—you are dependable, confident, and have such a gentle understanding. I’ve seen more of you come out and I just want to see how we can live our lives with the best of us! I think you embody the whole package in the way you look at your needs and others. I can’t wait to see what next in your life especially with your love for journalism!
Bridesmaid
Onya, you are a force to be reckoned with. I’m thankful to have met you freshman year and how consistently we’ve been in each other’s lives. You are unapologetic, driven, and resourceful. I admire so many of your qualities because they’ve gotten to where you are today. You’ve been such a fantastic career ally for me and mentor. And seeing your life unfold to go wherever, whenever is so freeing. It’s been years of growth and development career-wise, spiritually, and emotionally for the both of us. I love that we can relate on all things family and laugh together. I can’t wait to visit you in CT with my then husband. You’ve been there from the very beginning of our relationship and I still die thinking about HOV and that call Gabe was a part of. I love our catchups and the movie that is life. You’re my big sister and the best is yet to come for you!
Bridesmaid
Chiiiikuuuu, where to begin? My Kenyan sister. You were such a model for me growing up and I’m so happy we’re going through this process together. Even though we’ve known each other for most of my life, I think our friendship is really blossoming more than ever before. You’ve always been a free spirit, intelligent, and daring. I can see how life is such an experience for you and how you want to make an impact through your degree and being a kind human. I remember when we were at a gathering years ago and you were convincing everyone to stop using plastic water bottles because they suck and kill our planet. You have such a voice and are unafraid to stand up! I learn from that! I still wanna be like you when I grow up: well-travelled, non traditional, and loving! You care for Steph, Shanelle, and I so well— you’re so needed!
Bridesmaid
Amandabear! I call you that name with such affection. I have so many great memories with you throughout college + more. You are have such a genuine heart and you just flow. Flow with anything life brings with your humor, faithfulness, and ‘density’. You are about grace and truth and I see that in your life and giving others that as well. You’ve been there since my first crush to my soon-to-be! All the prayers we’ve prayed, time apart, time together, scares we’ve shared have shown me that you could be a friend in any season. I love that you just go and be a pure soul with your fitness groups or ministry. I hope AZ treats you well— I love seeing change through discomfort and you really embody that. Also, Gabe and I love you so much (even though I was your friend first!) ha, can’t wait to visit and show us around your parts.
Jr. Bridesmaid
Shanelle, anytime I think of you I marvel by how much you’ve grown and by the time I’m married you’ll be 16!! My goodness. I hope you know that even though I’m not as close to home anymore, that you are loved and valued. I’m thinking of you when you were tiny and how much life has happened since then. You’re my only cousin here in the States and we will always be bonded by you living with us and messing with my brothers. I hope this time is encouraging for you and you can have fun too! You’re growing up and I can’t imagine being so far from your mom and sister. You’re fiesty, helpful, and so fun. Feel free to call at any point in time because I’m not going anywhere. Love you girl ❣️
