How we met

Volleyball or Fate?

Unbeknownst that they would one day get married, the simple coincidence of living in the same apartment complex would lead Cameron and Gaby to each other. Cameron had just moved to attend the University of Florida and Gaby was starting her third year there. At the time, Cameron didn't know anyone in Gainesville. He was desperate to play some volleyball, and Gaby happened to be looking for players to join her first intramural team. She decided to extend an invite to this guy that she had never met before. Through volleyball, Cameron had made his first friend in a completely new place. After some time, they grew more familiar. Cameron realized that he wanted to be more than friends with Gaby and started to pursue her. Gaby was hesitant at first, but through Cameron's overly forward flirting, he was able to peak her interest. Though it took some time, Cameron was able to convince Gaby to go on a date with him to the UF student union bowling alley. Although Cameron had known Gaby was a competitive individual through volleyball, it was there that he saw the full extent of her competitive nature. She beat him in bowling...again...and again. Cameron was defeated, but he loved seeing how excited it made her. The night continued and the pair proceeded to wait an hour in line to get henna tattoos. They talked about anything and everything they could to pass the time. When they finally reached the front of the line, they realized they had not picked designs. Gaby suggested they pick each other's designs. It just so happened that Cameron selected a traditional wedding design for Gaby. Coincidence? Gaby thought to herself, "how funny would it be if we ended up getting married someday?" It began to rain, and the two ran home with nothing but a single jacket to keep them dry. They made it home and finished the night with a movie. With a kiss, they left each other that night, not knowing that they had just found the person they would spend the rest of their lives with.
