Our story began in high school and we admittedly had crushes on each other from the start. Our junior year, we sat a desk apart in AP physics class. It was a miracle we passed the class because we couldn't keep our eyes off each other. I (Caiden) asked her to the homecoming dance that year and we discovered that this was more than just a date to the dance. Autumn became winter and we fell unapologetically in love; a time that still contains some of our favorite memories together. As surreal as that first year was, we had some growing up to do. It was not Love's time. As we entered college, we found ourselves journeying on separate paths, simultaneously finding our way to Jesus. After finding our way back to one another, we recognized that God still had work to do in us as we were growing and learning. Jesus began changing our lives in profound ways while apart. Discomfort was the key, opening a door to radical experiences with the Living Christ that set our hearts on fire for a deeper life; God's ways are strange, and it was still not Love's time. Gabby's favorite band, Palace, was in Orlando last summer, and I couldn't resist buying a T-shirt to bring to her. To be honest, I just needed an excuse to see my ex-girlfriend one more time to see if I was ready to move on (I wasn't). We both felt God nudging us toward one another yet again - but this time we chose to pursue patience, remaining aware of the possibility of history repeating itself. I had finished getting my Bachelors and planned on going to a ministry school in Charlotte, NC that fall. She was studying to be a teacher in Jacksonville, so our lives did not appear poised to cross paths again. But, as easy as two high-schoolers fell madly in love in a boring class, we fell in love as two determined young adults, two new creations - following God's unlikely plan - and kicking life's butt along the way. Getting married was an easy decision and we can't wait to serve one another while serving the One who sacrificed everything for us: Jesus! It is His grace that has sustained us over the years, learning to love one another through the rollercoaster of growing up together; it is His love that will sustain us in the joys of growing old together!
