Casco Viejo is the oldest section of Panama City. Settled in 1673 Casco Viejo is known for its vibrant fusion of Spanish colonial, French, and Afro-Caribbean architecture. It is a bustling, walkable area featuring cobblestone streets, scenic plazas, cafes, rooftop bars, and rooftop views.
The Central
Built in 1874 the Central Hotel was the country's first luxury hotel. It served as a premier hub during the French canal era, burned down in 1878, reopened in 1882, and was renovated in 2016 to blend modern amenities with historic French-influenced architecture.
