Gabi and I met in the spring of 2021. I had previously worked as a bartender at The Shebeen. When I returned to work there during COVID, to my surprise, Vision BBQ, Gabi and Mike's shop, had opened up right next door. Gabi and I would often pass each other in the back of the restaurants, as they shared some storage and cooler space. We had our first conversation one Saturday morning when I came in to work and Gabi stopped me on my way to the office to introduce himself. We talked for a few minutes and as I walked away, I knew I was already developing a crush. We spent the next two months flirting shyly and catching each others' eye, making up excuses that would necessitate us going near each other. Gabi would often come to the bar when he was finished with work and order soda water so he and I could talk more. I was excited and happy every time he would come to the bar. After much flirting and bashfulness from behind our masks, Gabi finally sent me a message to ask me if I would like to come over to watch a live stream concert and eat Thai food. I went to his house that Sunday night and we both said it was the most nervous we had ever been. We ended up talking for hours and barely watched the livestream. When I went to leave, I hugged Gabi for the first time and went home, giddy and excited.

The next day, I went in to bartend in the evening and even though I knew the BBQ shop was closed that day, I secretly hoped that Gabi would be there working, as eager to see me as I was to see him. My smile lit up as I pulled in the parking lot and saw him outside working on the smoker. That night, it was a very busy night and he stayed to help me roll silverware. He then asked me over again and offered to make us tacos. We again sat for hours talking in his kitchen. It was unmistakable that we were both equally as excited, enjoyed each others' company and already adored each other. After those two nights, we were hooked. We've pretty much been inseparable ever since!
