The Story

It all began during a hot July evening in 2022 at the Corbin Crossing Apartments’ dog park. Taylor and her golden retriever, Blue, happened to cross paths with Christopher and his golden, Lilly. Blue and Lilly hit it off immediately — and Taylor couldn’t help but notice Lilly’s cute (and very kind) dad. That night, she went home and told her friend Sierra, “I met this guy at the dog park... I’m going to date him someday.” From that moment on, Taylor and Blue made it their mission to “casually” spend as much time as possible at the dog park. They would even sit on the balcony in the evenings, waiting to see Christopher and Lilly drive by as their signal to head down. If Christopher came late, Taylor and Blue stayed after everyone else left — just to spend some extra time with her dog park guy. Meanwhile, Christopher remained completely unaware of their very intentional timing. Despite some failed hint-dropping attempts (and one abandoned plan to suggest drinks), Taylor started to think maybe it wasn’t meant to be. Then, a few months later, fate stepped in. Taylor and Christopher ran into each other again at Stoll Dog Park. They walked lap after lap, talking the entire night while Blue and Lilly eventually begged to go home. The next day, Taylor confidently reported to her coworkers that it was practically their first date and he’d surely ask her out any minute now... He did not. About a week later, Taylor and Blue arrived late to the park and ended up there alone — until Christopher and Lilly showed up, this time with his mom, Leslie. Taylor and Leslie hit it off instantly and spent the entire time chatting, leaving Christopher barely able to get a word in. Later that evening (with help from a couple glasses of happy hour wine), Taylor sent Christopher a text saying how great it was to see him. That was the moment Christopher finally realized Taylor was interested. (About time.) A few days later, he asked her to meet him at the dog park — but they consider their first official date the night they went to Brew Top to watch the K-State game. Since then, they’ve shared countless dog park visits, Brew Top nights, and everyday moments filled with laughter, love, and golden retriever hair. They still love Brew Top, dog parks, their pups, and — more than anything — being together. And now, they can’t wait to say “I do.”
