How we Met

Back when we were kids

Their first encounters were back in preschool when Lindsey's mom was Gabe's teacher. Years later, they worked together briefly at Bob Evans in high school. They would frequently talk at the salad case and get scolded by their manager because they were talking too much. Gabe stopped working at Bob Evans and they went months without their paths crossing. That summer, a mutual friend set them up at the Clark County fair. They spent the evening chatting and getting to know each other. This started the beginning of their love story!

The Proposal

Way Down Yonder on the Chattahoochee

Gabe took Lindsey on their first vacation together in July 2020. It was a surprise trip that he had been planning for several months. They stayed in a quaint, cozy cabin in the Blue Ridge mountains where they fished and hiked. That weekend, Gabe told Lindsey that there were three things he wanted to do on the trip: 1. See a bear (check) 2. Catch some trout (check) and 3. A mystery (Lindsey didn't know at the time that the third thing Gabe wanted to do was propose). After an eventful day of fishing and spotting a bear, they went for a drive through the mountains. They stopped at a scenic overlook and walked a trail through the Chattahoochee National Forest. At the top of the trail was a gorgeous view of the mountains. After several minutes passed, Lindsey asked Gabe if he was ready to head back to the truck. Gabe responded, "there's one thing I want to do before we leave..." With one arm wrapped around her, he reached in his hiking backpack and pulled out a black velvet box. He opened the box with a beautiful, sparkly diamond ring inside. Before he could say anything, Lindsey started to scream, "OH MY GOSH, YES!" Then soon after, she said, "Wait a second! You haven't actually asked me yet!" Gabe responded, "Will you marry me?" With absolutely no doubts in the world, Lindsey said yes. They hiked hand-in-hand back to the truck where they listened to 'Chattahoochee' by Alan Jackson.
