FAQs

Question

What is the history of the farm?

Answer

Gabe's great grandfather built the farmhouse in 1920. In 1921 he relocated it to where it stands today and began farming the land shortly thereafter. It was a small operation at the time with about 10 cows, chickens, hogs, sheep and horses. Gabe's grandpa (Dick Lewis) was born in the farmhouse in 1927, and returned to take over the land in 1955. Dick was a proud farmer for almost 50 years before health issues forced him to retire at the age of 76.

Question

Is this a tradittionally structured wedding?

Answer

Somewhat. We are going to have a traditional ceremony, performed by Hannah's father, Harry Workman. We will also have a seated catered reception (lunch). After that we wanted to have time to just enjoy the day and spend time with each other and those who mean the most to us. This will be the first time our full families have met so we wanted to ensure a casual atmosphere for the evening so that everyone can get to know each other, play some outdoor games, laugh, dance, etc.

Question

What attire is appropriate for the ceremony?

Answer

Semi-Formal. Gentlemen, no need to fully suit up if that's not your style. A pair of slacks with a button-up and a tie is perfect. Ladies, dressy casual seems to be the internet term. We recommend wearing flats since it will be an outside ceremony. The weather in May in upstate NY should be around 60 degrees, so keep that in mind. Also, after the reception we will just be hanging out the rest of the evening so bring something more comfortable to change into if you would like.

Question

What kind of food will be served?

Answer

For the reception we will have a catered Italian lunch. Later on we will fire up the grill for an evening cook-out. You can stuff your belly all day if you wish. Let us know if you have any dietary restrictions... It's ok, Gabe is lactose-intolerant and Hannah is allergic to peppers and onions, we get the drill.

Question

I'm nervous about driving into the country, any tips?

Answer

Drive slow and be alert. You will have to venture down some windy dirt roads to get there but the road conditions are fine that time of year. Slow down when passing by farmhouses (the kids tend to play outside) and keep an eye out for deer. If you see a horse and buggy (you will go through Amish areas) just swing out wide and slowly pass them. You got this.

Question

If I'm spending the night, will it be in the woods?

Answer

No. For everyone who is spending the night we will have a comfortable place for you to sleep indoors. Please reach out to us if you'd like to know specifics.
