I didn't believe in the dating apps until I met you...

It all started at Martha’s restaurant in Hermosa Beach, where Matt was meeting up with his friends Elena and Dre. Matt isn’t the type to constantly check his phone, but on that particular day, he happened to open Bumble (dating app) just to check who was around. And just like fate, or maybe pure destiny, Gabby was also scrolling through Bumble at the exact same time, it was her local match zone. And then, it happened. A BIG match. Matt had already liked her, and when Gabby saw his profile, she matched with him too. She made the first move, sending a simple “Matt 😊”. In true Matt fashion, he came back with an awesome conversation, and by the end of it, he smoothly dropped his number. Later that day, Gabby texted him on his personal phone. And the next day? They ended up talking on the phone for hours. The conversation flowed so naturally, it was as if they had known each other for years. From that moment on, they NEVER stopped talking. The following weekend, they finally had their first date. Matt drove up to LA, and they went to a Brazilian steakhouse, Fogo de Chão, for an amazing dinner. Afterward, to a comedy show in Hermosa Beach, and by the end of the night, it was clear, this was something SUPER SPECIAL. A few days later it was Christmas time, Matt was back in New Mexico with his family, and Gabby was in Alabama with her friends Chris and Amanda. And in classic little-brother fashion, Matt made his sister Miranda FaceTime Gabby, almost like a little test to see how she’d fit into the family dynamic. She passed with flying colors, of course. 😅 Then came New Year’s time. Gabby was going to celebrate at her friend Natalie’s house, and invited Matt, who was supposed to fly back from New Mexico to spend the weekend with her. But then… chaos. Southwest canceled flights everywhere. Most people would have just accepted defeat, but not Matt. He pulled his signature GTHTMC (Great Things Happen to Matt Callahan) move, found a rental car, and drove 13 hours straight back to California. And it was all worth it. Because on December 30, 2022, after all the miles and all the effort, Matt asked Gabby to be his girlfriend. And of course, she said YES. From that moment on, their love story was filled with adventure, trips to Montana, Las Vegas, freezing camping trips, Valentine’s in Big Bear, and another romantic Valentine’s getaway to La Quinta Resort. But the biggest moment came on their annual Valentine’s trip to Big Bear, on February 10, 2024. Matt had a ring in his pocket and a plan in his head. He took Gabby up the mountain to teach her how to snowboard. After a day filled with laughs, falls, and a little frustration, Matt suggested they take a picture at the top of the mountain, with a breathtaking view behind them. A perfect stranger accepted to snap the shot, and at that moment, Matt got down on one knee. Gabby was completely shocked. She was so speechless, amazed, and overwhelmed that she couldn’t even say the word yes. Words just wouldn’t come out of her mouth. And as Matt stood there waiting, with no answer yet, he jokingly went down on one knee again and said, “G, you gotta say something.” That finally snapped her out of it, and she said, “Yes! I’ll marry you!” It was a wholesome, unforgettable moment. People around them were clapping and cheering on the top of the mountain, celebrating their love. It was a moment so unique, magical, and full of joy that they would cherish it forever. A lot has happened since their engagement, but now, on April 18, 2025, they will finally say their forever yes. In front of their family and friends, tying the knot and stepping into the rest of their lives as husband and wife. ❤️

For all the days along the way
