Teleport for a quick 15-minute walk through this garden—it offers a little slice of Japan nestled in the heart of San Mateo! Take a moment to admire the koi and the cute turtles in the pond. Maybe grab something to eat or drink nearby while you're at it.
Since the mall is only two minutes away from the church, it’s a great spot to hang out and shop after the wedding ceremony.
The Tahitian vanilla with oat milk latte is what got us hooked, but the spiced rose and the ube latte also proved to have the right sweetness to start the day! And while you’re there, try an ube croissant from their pastry cart (they go fast!).
Black sesame in your area! Kaizen Coffee brings unique twists to start your day like their Ube, Miso Caramel, and Mission Mocha. Neighbor Bakehouse also supplies this place with pastries, just like Deadeye, so you know it won’t be a bad idea to pick up a snack while you’re there!
Nearby Central Park in San Mateo is this little gem serving some of the most unique cups of coffee and drinks. The rose milk cake has just the right amount of floral accents in every bite- imagine a tres leches cake so moist it hits you with a bouquet of roses to the mouth.
This is such a great spot for weekend brunch! They have a nice variety of dishes, but we fell in love with their Salmon Eggs Benedict and the Lemon Ricotta Pancakes. On top of that, their bakery is filled with so many tempting desserts.
This cozy little Italian restaurant known for its six signature house-made lasagnas with hand-rolled pasta. We’ve tried three so far and can’t wait to taste the rest. Even though chicken isn’t usually our first pick, their Pollo Alla Vodka was surprisingly good. We’d definitely order it again. And if lasagna isn’t your thing, you can always build your own pasta.
One of our go-to spots whenever we’re in the area (and even when we’re not). It’s known as one of the best places for Japanese curry in the Bay Area, and for good reason. The curry is already packed with flavor, but adding cheese takes it to the next level. We’re also big fans of their black milk tea!
Really good quality hand roll bar with super fresh ingredients. If you’re into uni, this is definitely the place to try it. Sitting at the open bar is a nice touch since you get to watch the chef roll everything right in front of you.
This is a Thai fusion brunch that blends bold flavors with comfort classics. The Crème Brûlée French Toast is our favorite- it has a perfectly caramelized on top and irresistibly soft inside. The restaurant has a casual, warm ambiance. It's great to stop by for a relaxed yet memorable brunch.
This dessert spot nails the ultimate compliment for Asian sweets: “It’s not too sweet.” If you’re craving light, refreshing drinks or a delicious coconut pudding, this is the place to go!
This patisserie provides an elegant atmosphere for a post-dinner treat. For chocolate lovers, we highly recommend the hazelnut hot chocolate. You’ll want to share it with at least one other person, maybe even two as it’s like a chocolate bar melted in a cup!
The perfect place for matcha lovers. The affogato is a must-try, and their seasonal drinks are always super refreshing. We don’t really have a usual order, but honestly you can't go wrong, everything we’ve had here has been delicious.
This spot is historic and iconic for its delicious ice cream and chocolate. The whole area has such a fun vibe! Depending on the time of day, you can also enjoy great restaurants, unique shops, mini golf, and even an arcade. Perfect for a sweet treat and a little adventure!
