Brian and I met at church camp the summer after our 8th grade year. It was a weekend event that I decided to go to last minute. We were playing basketball when Brian finally got the courage to talk to me. The first words out of his mouth were, "Did you get your nails done for camp?" He had previously seemed like the bad boy type that I needed to stay away from, but that one sentence made me realize that he was just a nice guy who was nervous to talk to me. We didn't talk much after that until the parade on July 4th. We were on a float for our youth group, and none of us had thought to bring anything to participate in the water fight. Therefore, we basically were forced to stand there and take the barrage of water being flung and squirted at us. I was freezing and not having a lot of fun getting water in my eyes and such. Brian grabbed one of the lids from the tubs of water we brought and shielded me from the water for the entire parade. At one point, I got water in my mouth and without thinking, spit it out all over him. Despite this embarrassing moment, he added me on Facebook later that night, and we started talking from there.
