It was the night of the Shafter Children's Theater production. The "high schoolers" went as a group, considering most of us had a sibling participating in the play. We were sitting in the balcony of the auditorium when Garrett joined the group. Garrett instantly caught my eye. I leaned over to one of my girlfriends to ask, "who is that?" I was kindly informed it was Garrett Bloemhof, and he was in fact in the 8th grade. Although the idea of a younger man was questionable, only a brief moment elapsed before I outwardly claimed, "I am going to marry him!" The rest is history!
The long awaited proposal... It all started when Garrett wanted to go dirt bike riding, go figure! I was disappointed by the news, so I decided I needed plans too. However, it was not possible for me to be busy due to Garrett's special idea for the weekend. I stubbornly responded, "Garrett, I am pretty sure you have nothing planned that will be more memorable than the Lee Ann Womack concert." I was wrong. After some deep thought, I came to the obvious conclusion that Garrett's surprise was to take me to the concert. Contrary to my assumption, we arrived at the Bloemhof's house where Garrett set up the most beautiful dinner display. Did the romantic scene give away the soon approaching proposal? No! As Garrett anxiously waited for me to finish my dinner, he began reminiscing over the past five years of our relationship when he finally asked the question that changed our lives forever!
We are thrilled to celebrate this next chapter of our lives with you. Thank you for the blessing you have been. See you at the wedding!
