Matt and I actually went to Middle School & High School together, although we didn't really know each other or talk to each other, we just knew of each other. One summer there was a bonfire at a mutual friend of ours. A bonfire that we later found out that neither of us were going to go to, and we both had others telling us to go. Lucky for us, we both showed up. I made the first move ;) and went to go talk to him while he was standing by the fire. We talked the rest of the time we were there. On my way home I received a text from him asking if I made it home safely. I still had another 5-7mins before I was home, but the text made me smile. And look where we are now :) I think it's safe to say, bonfires are our favorite!

If you know me (Caitlin), you know my favorite place in this world is our family cabin Bilida in Mercer, WI. We had been up at Bilida with family. My family, Matt's family, my brothers in-laws, and a few Aunts and Uncles. On our property there are two ponds. One of which is filled with fish and has a little row boat. Since the first time I brought Matt up to Bilida, its a place we always visit when we are there. It's quiet and the view is beautiful. One year I decided to surprise Matt with a little gift at the pond. It was a customize rock that now lays by the edge of the pond. It has our initials engraved into it, along with the month and year we started dating (July 2015) and a quote, "The best relationships are the ones you never saw coming". On August 23rd 2019, Matt and I made our way out to the pond as usual. Once we got there, I did what I always do, I go make sure our special rock is still there. But this time I noticed there was another rock right next to ours. My first reaction, I was PISSED! I thought to myself, who the heck stole our idea and put a rock out here RIGHT NEXT TO OURS!! But then I read what it said "Caitlin, Will You Marry Me". I had to read it more than once before I realized, I was Caitlin. This rock was for me! I slowly turned around and Matt was on one knee with a ring in his hand looking at me! I think that was the point where I blacked out in shock by what was happening. To this day, that rock sits right next to our original one <3
