Matt moved to Texas in August, 2016 to be a Post Doctoral Researcher at Baylor University. I had sold my house summer of 2016 and was living with my parents north of Denton to pursue academic endeavors that didn't pan out, in the end. Matt and I met on eHarmony in February of 2017. We met in person the weekend after we met. Our first date was to the Kimball Art Museum. We made our way to the science museum while in the area, and finished the night off with sandwiches from Jersey Mike's. We went out a few more times and once surprised him at the airport in DFW when he was coming in from a math conference. But we decided not to continue for various reasons. Over the next 2 years, we would stay in touch with the occasional text conversation, but no attempt to get together again until 2019. I had reached out to let him know I had moved to Austin, TX, which was about an hour and 15 minutes away instead of 2.5 hours away. Matt came to Austin to pick out a violin and reached out in July. I had just come back from Turkey and we had coffee. He mentioned the job he was applying for that he now has. I followed up in November to ask if he heard about the job and he mentioned it sounded likely, though not for certain. He said he wanted to see me before he moved, and that weekend, he came down to Austin and we caught a performance from the Austin Orchestra after walking around downtown. That went well, and here we are, getting married 18 months later! We officially started dating a 9 days before he moved to Maryland, so the majority of our relationship has been long distance through a global pandemic.
