On November 2, 2021, Steven pulled through the Aroma Joe’s drive-thru in Plum with his friend, someone Katie had actually went to high school with and just seen the weekend before at a Halloween party. Funny enough, at the party he had asked Katie what she was up to, and she told him she had just started working at a new coffee shop in Plum called Aroma Joe’s. She told him he should stop by that week since it was the grand opening. A few days later, there he was in the passenger seat with Steven driving his mom’s white van. The second Katie and Steven saw each other, they both felt like they had seen one another before. Maybe at high school football game - Plum vs Shaler? A party? On social media? Passing by somewhere? Something felt familiar, their souls lit up, but they had never actually met before... there just was comfort in seeing the loves of their lives for the first time. The boys ordered their drinks, and as they pulled around. Steven told him that Katie was the prettiest girl he had ever seen. Before they even reached the pickup window, Steven had already followed Katie on social media and, of course, she ended up following him back. Over the next few days, Steven kept coming through the drive-thru, purposefully only when Katie was working. But on November 4th, he decided to make his move. He pulled up and asked Katie if she could make him a drink he saw online. She said she could try and asked to see it. Steven handed her his phone… and instead of a drink recipe, it was a new contact page, already filled out, with her name saved as “Cute Aroma Joe’s Girl.” Katie giggled and put her number in. From there, they texted and called and texted and called. That Sunday, they went on their first date and left both agreeing they should do a second date soon... They ended up seeing each other the very next day and then, every single day after that. Now, they’ll be spending the rest of their lives together. Proof that sometimes all it takes is a leap of faith, a coffee shop, and your moms van.
