Zoe was supposed to be at Shelbi’s house the night of October 3, 2015… at least according to Zoe’s parents (Shelbi is now one of her bridesmaids). But instead, Zoe and Shelbi made a last-minute decision to go to a campfire at a mutual friend’s house, which was the go-to hangout spot at the time. That’s where Zoe met Seth’s dog, Ace… and eventually Seth too. (But let’s be honest, Ace made the first impression.) After some small talk that night, Seth found Zoe on Instagram the very next day. We started chatting and planned our first date at St. John Parish’s famous Andouille Festival. Yes, a sausage festival was our first date… and somehow, it worked. From there, we had a ton of dates at our local Walmart dodging people we knew… because apparently that was our version of a fun date. Out of all places, we shared our first kiss in the Walmart parking lot. After that, Zoe finally worked up the courage to tell her parents she had met a boy, and on November 9, 2015, Seth officially asked her to be his girlfriend. Now, Seth will tell you that decision came with a lifelong consequence… because Zoe’s birthday is exactly one week later. Anniversary and birthday gifts back-to-back had him stressing for years, which is part of the reason we chose a spring wedding. (That, and not interfering with hunting season, of course!) Over the years, we’ve grown up together, learning, changing, and building a life side by side. Seth has also made it his mission to teach Zoe the ways of a true coonass… and somewhere along the way, she fully embraced it. These days, you can usually find us out on the boat riding in the swamp, fishing, hunting, and believe it or not frogging….which has become Zoe’s favorite. In May 2024, we bought our first home in Gonzales, Louisiana. You know it’s real love when the woman in your life agrees to place a gun safe bigger than you in the living room. We’ve had our own dogs prior, but on January 7, 2025, we adopted Millie from a local rescue together. Seth wasn’t totally convinced at first, but now they’re inseparable. Zoe has happily accepted her role as Millie’s spare human. In July 2025, we set off on one of our favorite kinds of trips, a cruise with Royal Caribbean out of Miami to the Bahamas. On the morning of July 23, 2025, we stood on the balcony of our room as we pulled into beautiful Nassau. Seth got down on one knee and asked Zoe to marry him. And of course, she said yes! Now we’re counting down the days until we celebrate the next chapter of our story with all of our favorite people. We can’t wait to see what God has in store for us and our future together!
